Today, Casa Frisi propose to our (virtual) guests a trip to Pompei
First of all, to refresh your memory, we suggest to have a look at what the Encyclopædia Britannica says about Pompeii. Did you know, for instance, that together with Herculaneum and Torre Annunziata, it was a UNESCO Heritage Site since 1997?
Before your visit, you can relive what happened to the city 2000 years ago the day of the eruption
If you know a bit of French, this video made by Arte, is even more impressive
If you have more time, have a look at a longer version (still in French)
Let’s go!
Well, enough with the introduction and the preparations, now is time for the real journey… but…
...wait a minute, there is a problem… there is nobody there…
Unfortunately, as you can imagine, the archaeological site is closed to the public because of coronavirus, and even the Expo Pompei, an exhibition that, in the world outside our current reality, should have started on March 25 at the Grand Palais in Paris, obviously did not.
But don’t be sad! Look at the bright side, normally from Casa Frisi you have to travel more than three hours to see this beautiful place, but today you can just click and see it from home.
Pompei chez vous!, as the French say.
Visit some of the house
Don’t forget to add subtitles! Unless you are fluent in French, of course!
Have a look how the mosaic are restored
(Again, don’t forget the subtitles)
But first, don’t forget to browse the catalog!
In French, you can see the exhibition with a guide from Telerama
At Casafrisi, we never forget kids
Here is an introduction to Pompeii for the little people
For the older ones, we suggest this Timeline’s version of Lost World Of Pompeii
Or you can play The Downfall of Pompeii
Or help Alabama Smith to Escape from Pompeii
The lucky ones who speak French can play games, thanks to the Grand Palais
Read The Classic
After this engaging journey, we invite you to read Goethe’s version of this trip
In Italian, you can find it at Wikimedia
In English or French, I am sure you will have no problem to find it
We hope you enjoyed your visit to CasaFrisi! See you next week!
